Spectators at the Olympic Games had to buy digital tickets -

there were no paper tickets for admission to the venues.

After the Games had finished spectators could buy printed

souvenir tickets for the events that they had watched by

exchanging their digital tickets for paper souvenir tickets.

Unused tickets are rare as the final day was completely sold out -

prices for the best seats on the grandstand were ten times the

original price on the black market. 50 000 spectators watched the races,

and many of them missed the first final because the Munich public transport

system had not expected such masses of people to cope with.
